It’s always the couple who chooses
…but this is what I explain to help them find the technique that truly fits them.
And I love this question, because it opens the door to a very personal conversation.
I never choose for them. The technique has to be a heartfelt decision, something that feels right for their story.
My role is simply to guide them, to explain what each medium expresses, and how it can magnify the atmosphere of their day.
Pastel: softness, movement, and the emotion of the moment
Pastel is the poetry of immediacy. I draw with pure color, directly with my hands, without barriers. It’s spontaneous, delicate, and alive.
Why some couples choose pastel:
They love soft, airy, romantic atmospheres
They want a lively, spontaneous rendering, almost impressionistic
They feel connected to something gentle, intimate, subtle
They want the artwork to capture movement and emotion in real time
Pastel is ideal for a fleeting gesture, a dance, a shared glance, a veil lifted by the wind. It captures tenderness in its most immediate form.
Oil painting: depth, presence, and a timeless heirloom
Oil paint tells a different story. It brings richness, layers, and a luminosity that lasts.
Why other couples choose oil:
They want a highly detailed, refined, more elaborate artwork
Their setting is visually striking: a Provençal estate, vineyards, a château…
They dream of an heirloom piece, something deeply timeless
They love rich textures, depth, and warm light
Oil takes time. It builds slowly, with layers and subtleties.
The result is a painting with presence — a piece meant to travel through years, even generations.
What truly guides the choice: the atmosphere of the wedding
Even though the couple decides, I always tell them this:
every wedding has its own soul, its rhythm, its light.
And very often, the scene itself whispers the answer.
Is it an intimate ceremony or a grand Provençal venue?
Is the light soft and muted, or golden and dramatic?
Is the atmosphere elegant, rustic, joyful, poetic?
I simply help them listen to what their wedding already expresses.
Most of the time, the technique becomes obvious on its own.
A painting created as part of your shared legacy
Whether it’s pastel or oil, the intention remains the same:
to create a piece that stays with you,
that tells your story,
and that becomes part of your shared heritage.
A painting you keep for a lifetime, and that can be passed down like a cherished memory.
The choice between pastel and oil is never technical.
It’s emotional, intuitive, personal.
This is why I always let my couples decide —
I’m simply here to guide them toward the technique that speaks to their wedding’s unique atmosphere.
